Leader in Homeland Security Imaging Products
BACKGROUND

During radiation therapy, it is highly desirable to minimize dose on healthy tissue, and to maximize dose to the cancerous cells.  To do this, the most recent radiation therapy approaches uses Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT).  This approach takes  images of the radiation region to accurately locate the tumor, and then this information is used to dynamically adjust the Dose to the tumor.  However, current systems  which track tumors do not do this in real-time.  They take from ten seconds, up to a minute to determine the location of the tumor.  The ideal solution will provide real-time imaging and tumor tracking, and a clear image of the healthy and malignant tissue.

The Solution:  eBeam CT Guided Radiation Therapy

The use of two scanning electron-beams integrated with the radiation therapy system provides real-time tumor tracking. By using an electronically steered electron source, it is possible to produce image in less than 1/10th of a second. Further, to improve the resulting image, the beam uses low energy X-rays to capture the image, resulting in a better contrast in the image for the real-time tracking.

Features

  • Real-time tumor imaging
  • < 1/10th second/image
  • Optimized for imaging healthy tissue and cancerous tissue
  • No mechanical rotation
  • Reduced artifacts by eliminating a rotating gantry
  • Highly reliable design

Benefits

  • Real-time tracking of tumors
  • Dynamically adjust for body movement
  • Excellent image contrast
  • Allows users to minimize dose to healthy tumor, while maximizing dose to cancerous cells
  • Motionless imaging reduces operational cost and warranty costs

Who Would benefit using ATR

Virtually all patients undergoing radiation therapy who can benefit from real-time tracking of the cancerous cells can benefit from this product. The use of this product ensures the optimal dose distribution to produce the optimal outcome.

For Radiation Therapy providers, this system ensures that you are providing the latest in technology with the optimum equipment to your patients. In addition, the use of scanning Computed Tomography ensures reduced operational and maintenance costs.
